| New Deck at the Main Pond |
|
|
Completed:
November 3rd, 2006
Imagine sunbathing on a redwood deck after a relaxing
soak with the sounds of the hot water fall lulling your
worries away as you absorb the warm San Juan sun. The
entire Orvis family contributed to the demolition and
construction of the new deck over a short four day period.
We invite you to seeit for yourself. |
|
| New Heated Flagstone Path to the Massage
Yurts |
|
|
Completed:
Fall 2006
The walk to the massage yurts became a lot sweeter
this fall. Casey and company worked for many a long
day creating a pathway of a rich red flagstone. Before
laying the flagstone, which orginigated in Pueblo
Colorado, Casey rerouted the overflow from the Lobster
Pot so as to create a 'snow free' walk in winter
to the ever popular massage yurts. Definitely check
it out during your next visit. |
|
| New Pea Gravel Added to the Main Pond |
|
|
Completed:
Fall 2006
Every few years we add some fresh pea gravel
to the main pond. This year Ken Orvis directed a
concrete truck to the edge of his ranch pasture and
deposited the gravel directly into the pond, as pictured.
So if you've been soaking and feel like you
grew a bit or the pond is a bit more shallow, it's
probably the result of the new gravel. Over time,
the gravel will find its way out of the pond and
the old level will return. |
|
| Brand New State-of-the-Art Septic System |
Completed:
Winter 2006
It seemed to all of us who work here that Ken & Cristy
Orvis had the plans to install a state-of-the-art
septic system with electronically controlled rotating
leach fields well before they purchased the property
in the summer of 2005. Alas, let it be know to soakers
everywhere that the new Orvis septic is fully operational,
environmentally friendly and
is located
far from any soaking area in the field to the west
of the campground. Thanks Ken & Cristy!

|
| New & Larger Women's Changing Rooms |
Completed:
Summer 2006
The ladies have finally gotten what they deserve: a
brand new changing room that is double the size of
the old one and features two brand new
showers, brand new plumbing and two brand new toilets.
|
|
| Free High Speed Wireless Internet |
Completed:
Winter 2006
Though electronics (including your beloved laptops
and blackberries) are still not allowed in the vicinity
of any soaking area, Ken & Cristy Orvis installed
free wireless internet for all guests who partake in
the
conveniences of the 21st century. The connection is
fast, reliable, free and accessible from all six lodging
rooms and the lobby.
|
|
| Very Cold Plunge, Drip Line and Showers |
Completed:
Summer 2006
Everybody loves the warm summer days here in the
Southern San Juans and it seems that cold water has
been in short supply over the years. We've worked
on improving our delivery and exchange system so
that colder water and more of it is now flowing throughout
the property. The drip line in the main pond is guaranteed
to give you that 'ice cream head' senstation. Come
and check it out!

|
| Brand New Pool House Open! |
|
|
Completed:
Summer 2006
On January 19th, 2006, the beloved indoor pool house
was demolished by a group of
Orvis
family members armed with seriously heavy equipment
and a burning passion for a state-of-the-art pool house.
The construction phase is completed and the finishing
phase is progressing rapidly. The new building features
beautiful timber framed porches, stucco
walls and
a fully enlcosed kids play area on the north side.
Swimsuits will be required in the new pool house
during the
hours
of
9:00 AM
through
10:00 PM. |
|
| Remodeled Lodging Rooms |
|
|
|
|
Completed:
Fall 2005
When Ken & Cristy Orvis purchased the springs in the
fall of 2005, the first item on their list of improvements
was a complete remodel of our six lodging rooms. Once
the new carpet, pain and mattresses were installed, Ken
& Cristy fulfilled their pledge of delivering greater
value to Orvis soakers by decorating each theme based
room with locally crafted furniture and providing lodging
guests with an ample supply of towels
as well as the coveted
Orvis Hot Springs hooded bathrobes. Click
here for more
information about our lodging rooms. |
|
| Outdoor Waterfall |
|
|
|
Completed:
Summer 2006
A new waterfall is being built on the west face of
the new pool house and will greet all soakers heading
out to explore and enjoy all the amenities we offer
in our lusciously landscaped yard. |
|
| Remodeled Men's Rooms |
|
|
|
Completed:
March 2006
The men's changing room received a full makeover before
the ladies in part due to the serious plumbing problems
that have plagued the shower area for the past several
years. Our dedicated maintenance crew tore out the
two showers, toilet and the sink and replaced all of
the
plumbing. Once the plumbing was deemed to be perfect,
the crew installed two brand new showers, a self-flushing
toilet, a beautiful new sink and improved ventilation.
Don't worry ladies, your changing room is getting
all of this as well as being doubled in size!

|
| Beautification of the Dumpster and Recycling
Area in the Parking Lot |
|
Completed: Fall 2005
Every little effort to beautify the grounds counts,
especially when you have a large dumpster, several
recycling
bins
and
car
campers tucked into various corners of the Orvis
parking lot. Click on the image to the left to get
a larger view of the mighty San Juan Mountains that
tower above our beautified dumpster and are the view
from the enclosed grounds and main soaking pond.
|
|
| Refinished Private Tubs |
|
|
|
|
Completed:
February 2006
Both indoor private tubs received a makeover this
winter as part of our effort to bring you, our cherished
soakers, with more value for the same price. Our
maintenance crew painstakingly re-grouted both tubs,
and refinished the wood on the walls and benches.
|
|
| Outdoor Cold Showers |
|
|
|
Completed: Summer 2004
What's better than getting out of the lobster pot or
steaming hot sauna and pulling a chain & ring handle
that soaks your body with cool refreshing water
as you take in the views of the towering San Juan
Mountains?
Exactly. Nothing compares. That's why we installed
two side by side outdoor showers along the fence
behind the sauna and lobster pot. Enjoy!
These showers are seasonal and are open from April
- October.

|
| New 20 foot Massage Yurt |
|
|
|
Completed: July
15, 2006
Soak and massage, a hand in hand combination that many
of our guests look forward to enjoying when they arrive
at our relaxing resort. We already have two 15 foot
massage yurts and have added a larger brand new 20
foot yurt
in order to
offer
simultaneous
massage,
which allows two people, often couples, to receive
their own therapeutic bodywork treatment under the
same roof.
|
|
| New Employee Overnight Watch Quarters |
|
Completed: Fall, 2005
Though the trailer that served the overnight watch
person here at the springs was funky, hard to heat
and small, we all had grown to love/hate it over
the years. Ken & Cristy
upped the anty by providing a much larger space that
is
easy
to heat, very comfortable and is treated by the dedicated
housekeeping staff as one of the rooms on their list
to clean and care for. The new overnight watch quarters
is located just west of the pathway to the side
entrance of the yard.

enjoyed storing, cooking, eating and sharing food in
our complimentary kitchen. As Orvis grows, Ken & Cristy
Orvis want the facilities to be able to keep up with
your needs. Sometime this summer our hard working crew
is going to double the size of the kitchen and create
more seating area for your culinary enjoyment!
