The Yurt is a modern adaptation of the ancient shelter used by
Central Asian nomads for centuries. The compact shape of the yurt
and combination of lightweight members in tension and compression
mean that the structure is highly efficient in maximizing strength
while minimizing the use of materials. All massages are performed
in our elegant yurts, which have minimal impact on the surrounding
soils and, though durable, can be removed without a trace.

Massage Therapist Biographies

Jody Visalli Maddalone, CMT
At the age of 40 I had my first massage. It had a very strong impact on
me mentally and physically, and I had the feeling that massage was something
I could be good at and that it would be rewarding, purposeful work. A few
years later I was able to make the dream come true and enrolled at the New
Mexico Academy of Healing Arts in Santa Fe. I graduated and was certified
in 1993 and have been practicing bodywork ever since. In 2000 I moved back
to Colorado and immediately found Orvis Hot Springs, which has been a perfect
environment for practicing massage and helping people to feel better and
to be more in touch with their bodies.
When asked what kind of massage I do, I usually respond that it is
deep tissue, with a Swedish base, and a sprinkling of various other
modalities
and styles that I have incorporated into my work over the years.
I have taken classes in various techniques including Shiatsu, Sports Massage,
Stretching,
Neuromuscular Therapy, Hot Stone Massage and Lomi Lomi and when they’re
put in the pot and stirred, you get a massage by Jody!

Priscilla Pattison, CMT
With 21 years of professional experience, she is sensitive
to each client’s needs;from assisting them with
relaxation and stress release to muscular pain relief.
She specializes in integrative massage which is slow
and deep, but uses the client’s level of comfort
and direction to determine the depth of pressure and
focus of the massage. Her calming presence and her
ability to listen to the tissue under her fingers takes
the client
to that fine line of relaxation and tension release.
She was trained and certified in Integrative, Swedish,
and Shiatsu at the Boulder College of Massage. She
is also a certified Watsu Practitioner certified by
the
School of Shiatsu and Massage.

Mindy S. Malin
Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Trager Practitioner
Mindy is committed to providing therapeutic massage and bodywork enhancing the healing of the
whole body and to provide each client with ways to become aware of their own potential healing power
and ability to heal themselves. Each massage session is tailored to the individual client's need, combing
the different modalities of massage and therapeutic bodywork.
As a Certified Trager Practitioner, she looks forward to introducing the trager approach to the clients
at Orvis Hot Springs. The Trager approach is an approach to body movement re-education, using light,
gentle, non-intrusive movements to facilitate the release of deep seated physical and mental patterns
developed from poor posture, musculoskeletal injuries from athletics, motor vehicle accidents and
surgery. Trager has been successful with releasing muscle tension due to everyday stress, neck and
shoulder discomfort and low back pain. It has also helped to improve the performance of professional
athletes to weekend warriors. A trager session is 1 to 1 1/2 hours with no oils or lotions used, the client
can be comfortable dressed or in athletic clothing, bathing suit, or underwear.
Mindy's bodywork training began in 1999 at the New York College of Health Professions in New
York. She holds a Colorado State Massage License, a New York Massage License, and is Nationally
Certified for Massage and Therapeutic bodywork.

Melissa Countryman, NCMT
I have been practicing massage since 1999. Throughout this time, I have learned
to creatively adapt
my techniques to meet each individual client's needs. After attending the Boulder
College of Massage
Therapy in Boulder, Colorado, I immediately began my own private practice.
This has enabled
me to cultivate dynamic client care skills. Aside from the on-going skills
required in maintaining
excellent long-term client relations, I have also developed immediate client-connection
skills from my
experience working in spa and chiropractic settings.
My massage modality-trainings include: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Integrative,
Thai, Watsu,
Aromatherapy, and La Stone massage. In your session, I will assess your needs
for this particular day
and draw from any of these massage modalities to best address your needs.
My massage style has been described by clients as detailed, firm and deep
as well as connected,
perceptive and thorough. Clients have also shared with me that they feel
listened to, that I intuitivley
respond to their body's needs. Some clients have said they feel “inches
taller” and “completely and
deeply relaxed” after our sessions.
